Banging for the 12Th season

Folk dance crew of Liepaja University (TDK) „Banga” (A group) was born in year 18th of march in 2009 – the anniversary of Liepaja city.

Liepja – city where the wind borns, a city next to a sea shore, city, where the sea tides. That`s why the crew is called „Banga”, it came realy natural, by describing the enviroment, where the crew works, lives and gets the joy by dancing.

For the crew`s development, with a lot of energy, enthusiasm and love is responsible our crew leader Kristīne Kārkliņa ex Finka. (Co founder crew).

The rhytm and waves of the crew is made from young people, who love to dance and dancing is their passion.

In the 12 years of the crew`s exsistence there where been concerts in Latvia and in foreign countries – Lithuania, Sweden, Turkey, Estonia.

-XXV Latvian song and dance festival (2013);

-XVII Baltic student dance and song festival „GAUDEAMUS” Daugavpils (2014);

-Dance performance „Spring nights mystery” (2015);

-Dance performance „Sweeping the rings” Cesis (2016);

-Kurland dance festival in Liepaja (2016);

-XVIII Baltic student dance and song festival „GAUDEAMUS” Tartu (2018);

-XXVI Latvian song and dance festival (2018);

-Kurland song festival in Liepaja (2019).

VPDK Bandzenieki 8th season

In 19.september 2012 our dance comunity joined middle aged dancers „Bandzenieki”, choosing to spend their evenings together, hand in hand, dance with passion and say : „Who wants, that can”.
